Gun at school: 21-year-old Brendan Ladd charged after taking gun into Deer Park Elementary, court records show!

Deer Park, Texas (KTRK) – A 21-year-old man has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon after he allegedly took a gun to Deer Park Elementary School this week, according to court records.

The video above is from the 24/7 live broadcast on ABC13.

Brendan Ladd allegedly went to elementary school on multiple occasions with a firearm, according to the documents.

The incident occurred on September 27 at approximately 11 a.m., when a staff member saw the man and reported him to the school resource officer. But according to a letter the parents received from the principal, “the police do not believe the man (Ladd) had any ill intent.”

While the documents indicate that Ladd went to the building with a gun, the principal wrote that he did not approach any students or employees and handed his weapon over to the police.

I am writing to inform you of an incident that occurred near our school today. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and with that in mind, our school was placed on a precautionary order earlier today while the police responded to the situation. At about 11 am, a member of our office team reported seeing a person on the north side of the building who appeared to be carrying a firearm. I informed the school resource officer, who immediately approached the man outside. He cooperated with the officer, and based on their exchange, the police do not believe the man had any ill intentions. He surrendered his weapon to the police and was arrested.Although the man walked through the campus property, he did not approach any students or employees. However, under Texas penal code, citizens are prohibited from carrying firearms on school premises, including any land or buildings where school activity takes place.Fortunately, there was no immediate danger to our school, and the impact on our educational program was minimal. I am proud of how quickly our team responded, and appreciate the continued support from the Deer Park Police Department.
