Eddie Redmayne, Janelle Mooney and Sadie drown among the honorees from SCAD

Eddie Redmayne, Janelle Monae, Jonathan Majors and Sadie Sink are among the stars honored at the Scud Savannah Film Festival later this month.

The Savannah College of Art and Design is celebrating 25 years since the 25th annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival, which takes place in person from October 22-29. Redmayne will receive a Virtuoso Award for “The Good Nurse”, Monáe will receive a Spotlight Award for “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”, Jonathan Majors will receive a Spotlight Award for “Dedication” and Sadie Sink will receive a Rising Star Award for “Whale”.

Among the other honorees, Keri Condon is set to receive the Outstanding Performance Award for “The Banshees of Inisherin”, JD Dillard with the Rising Star Director Award for “Dedication”, Nicholas Hoult with the Vanguard Award for “The Menu”, Jeremy Bob with the Outstanding Performance Award for “Inspection”. Henry Selick was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Animation Award for Wendell and Wild. Previous honors include Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly) who will receive the Discovery Award for Taurus and Ron Howard who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in Directing for Thirteen Lives.

Fashion designer Sandy Powell received miscellaneous Creative Impact Award and will appear in a conversation with Senior Craftsman Editor Jazz Tangcay.

The festival kicks off October 22 with the opening night screening of Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin. It culminates on October 29, with the closing night screening of “Living” and Darren Aronofsky’s “Whale,” which will be shown on October 28.

Miles Teller (2016 Vanguard Award recipient) will attend a live talk after a special presentation for ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ Other highlights include former US Congresswoman and Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Gabi Giffords, who appeared with director-nominated Julie Cohen and Betsy West after a special screening of the famous documentary “Gabe Jeffords Won’t Back Down”.

A major stop on the Academy Awards circuit, the Scud Savannah Film Festival will screen 143 films, including 53 feature films, 20 feature documentaries, and 79 short films, with eight world premieres and six US premieres.

Dillard), “Empire of Light” (Sam Mendes), “Onion Glass: Knives Out Mystery” (Ryan Johnson), “The Good Nurse” (Tobias Lindholm), “The Holy Spider” (Ali Abbasi), “The Inspection” (Elegance Bratton), “The Living” (Oliver Hermanus), “The Lost King” (Stephen Frears), “The List” (Mark Mellod), “Policeman” (Michael Grandig), “Nanny” (Nickiato Juso), “One Beautiful Morning” (Mia Hansen Love), “She Happy” (Maria Schrader), “Taurus” (Tim Sutton) and “Till” (Chinonye Chukwu) and “Women Talking” (Sarah Polley).

miscellaneous Clayton Davis will host Sketch to Screen, which highlights the best animated films of the year. Showcasing a wide range of artistic methods and animation styles, these films tell compelling stories as they compete for Oscar acclaim. Tangcay will also host 10 must-see craftsmen.
