PlayStation 5 Firmware 4.03 has been jailbroken

YouTube Content Creator Lance MacDonald He shared a new tweet recently, explaining that a group of hackers managed to find a vulnerability in the PlayStation 5’s 4.03 firmware that allows them to jailbreak the console, although it doesn’t provide full access yet.

As I mentioned Tom Henderson from Insider GamingA source close to Sony confirmed to them that the jailbreak is legitimate. Also, hackers have publicly shared jailbreaking files, but they mentioned that it only works on the 4.03 firmware for now. Hackers claim that there is a possibility that the jailbreak will work on an earlier firmware, but it will not work on any new firmware after 4.03 for now.

In case you didn’t know, jailbreaking is illegally accessing the entire console program, including root access to codes and partitions that would normally be blocked for clients. When someone other than the company gets this high-level access, it enables them to play paid games for free on the console and bypass the original rules of using a legal game console.

Currently, the 4.03 firmware jailbreak on PlayStation 5 allows hackers to gain read/write access to codes, however, it does not allow them to execute codes, which is the main reason why this jailbreak is not a complete console hack.

Also, as hackers claim, the jailbreak is unstable, and if someone tries to turn it on, it only works 30% of the time, which means it’s still a weak jailbreak. However, the fact that this jailbreak grants root access to the PlayStation 5 could be a serious warning for Sony engineers to work on the security gates of other firmwares for the console.

Most PlayStation 5 consoles currently run on firmware 22.02-06, which was released earlier in September 2022, bringing support for 1440p output hardware and adding some other software improvements.

Sony has not officially reacted to this PS5 jailbreak yet, as there is a possibility that the company has already fixed the software vulnerability in firmware updates after 4.03. We highly suggest that you stay away from jailbreaking your console because Sony will ban your account and your console for life if you get illegal access to the system software.
