Saints QB Andy Dalton breaks down on TNF: Best memes and tweets

The New Orleans Saints started Week 7 in a great game against the Arizona Cardinals, then quarterback Andy Dalton exploded.

After watching the previous two versions of Friday Night Football, scoring points was a chore for the Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and Washington leaders. But as it turns out, all Amazon Prime Video needs to get more points on the board is a New Orleans Saints vs. Arizona Cardinals, but with one caveat.

Midfielder Andy Dalton needed to play.

For the fourth week in a row, Dalton started the Saints side by sidelining James Winston. New Orleans appeared to be in good shape, as they led 14-6. But that all changed as the Cardinals pegged him on Quntai Ingram’s hasty landing.

On the next drive, Dalton targeted Marquez Callaway’s wide receiver in the middle of the field, but was picked up by Marco Wilson and returned for the landing. This guy definitely wasn’t on Dalton, it was on Callaway, who jumped the football in the air.

Things didn’t get any better for the Saints, as Dalton’s pass assigned to rising wide receiver Chris Olaf was picked up and brought back for the touchdown by linebacker Isaiah Simmons, giving the Cardinals a 28-14 lead before halftime.

Saints: Andy Dalton collapses late in the first half vs. Cardinals

Let’s just say Twitter users showed exactly no mercy to Dalton after what turned out to be a two-minute final disaster in addition to the first half.

Dalton had only made one interception per season, which occurred in the team’s week five game against the Seattle Seahawks. He had not one, not two, but three interceptions in the first half. What we didn’t show was a pass to Callaway 10 yards from the end zone, but was picked up by linebacker Antonio Hamilton.

In the first half, Dalton had four touchdown passes. Two for saints and two for cardinals.
