Fest 919 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, will open its fifth edition with the action-drama “Dimension,” starring Jonathan Majors and Glenn Powell, on October 19. Director J.D. Dillard with the New Horizons Award.
Set during the Korean War, “Dedication” follows the first black US Navy pilot and his wingman, both facing geopolitical uncertainty and racial animosity. The show will be followed by a moderated conversation with Dillard.
This year’s festival will conclude with the screening of Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” on Sunday, October 23. Set on a private estate on a Greek island, Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) returns to solve another murder mystery in the upcoming whodunit sequel.

DNEG appoints former Technicolor CEO Daniel Guru as Chief Operating Officer
DNEG, one of the top visual effects and animation studios for feature films, television and cross-platform content, has announced the appointment of Daniel Guru, former CEO of Technicolor and R/GA, as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Jurow has over two decades of experience in the creative industry and will be based out of the DNEG studio in London, reporting directly to DNEG President and CEO Namit Malhotra.

Jurow joins DNEG from Technicolor, where he was the Director of Operations for the company’s film and spin-offs division. Prior to this role, he spent more than 15 years at global digital products and marketing agency R/GA, where he rose to the rank of Executive Vice President of Production, leading over 200 products. During his time at R/GA, Guru oversaw the launch of the Nike+ product partnership between Nike and Apple in 2006 and helped the agency grow from 200 employees to more than 2,000 across 17 global offices by the time of his departure in 2019.
Women In Film Non-Profit announces the winners of the 2022 WIF Award
The cast and crew of the upcoming biographical drama ‘She Said’ are among those honored at the 2022 Women In Film Honors for their groundbreaking achievements as directors. Major names from the productions who will be attending the scholarship include producer Diddy Gardner and actor Carey Mulligan.
The highly anticipated film, expected to be released November 18 in the US, documents the brutal revelations of former film producer and convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein, as first discovered by two New York Times reporters. The two journalists who lead the investigation, Judy Kantor and Megan Twohy, will also be honored at this year’s WIF Award with the Crystal for Advocacy Award.
Cantor, Toothy, Gardner and Mulligan will receive the award along with fellow nominees such as Abbott Trial creator Quinta Bronson, The Woman King director Gina Prince-Bythwood and the writer-director team behind Don’t Worry Darling, Katie Silberman and Olivia Wilde.
Other award recipients include “I May Destroy You” screenwriter Michaela Cowell, who will receive the Humanitarian Award, and “Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart, WIF Max Mara Face of the Future nominee.
Singer and actress nominee Tony Davine will host Joy Randolph’s annual gala, which is set to take place on October 27, at a Women’s Empowerment Evening.
