Fortnite update 22.10 patch notes, 12 hours crash, leaks, fixes, map changes, chests | Games | entertainment

Fortnite developer Epic Games has confirmed its plans to release update 22.10 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Android. The first major update for Season 4 has an October 4 release date. The update was originally scheduled to release along with a server downtime at 9am UK time on Tuesday morning. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected issue in update 22.10, Fortnite was taken offline early on.

“Unlock the key to victory in update 22.10, due to be released tomorrow October 4!” The original announcement for update reads 22.10. Downtime begins at 04:00 ET (08:00 UTC), with matchmaking disabled 30 minutes earlier.

In a follow-up post, Epic confirmed that while update 22.10 will continue to roll out on October 4, the downtime has now begun.

Epic explains: “Due to an issue, we are entering downtime early. Update 22.10 will continue to be released tomorrow October 4th.” “We’ll let you all know when the downtime is over!”

The Fortnite downtime is expected to end between 10 and 11 AM GMT, which means the game will be offline for about 12 hours.

Based on the original teaser from Epic, update 22.10 will add a brand new set of item chests, which can only be unlocked by searching for keys.

There’s also a good chance Chrome will spread, leading to some brand new points of interest and general map changes.

Expect to drop more leaks once the update rolls out, especially with the start of the Fortnitemares event in the coming weeks.
