Christian Bale says Marvel’s ‘Thor’ set was ‘monotonous’

Christian Bale joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year by playing comic book villain Gorr the God Butcher opposite Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Love and Thunder. In a new interview with GQ, the actor — known for his roles in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, “American Hustle” and “American Psycho” — said he was drawn to the project because he loved “Thor: Ragnarok” and thought Gorr was an “interesting character.”

However, Bell added that acting in front of a green screen for the Marvel project was “monotonous”, and that he could not “distinguish from one day to the next”.

“This is the first time I’ve done it,” he said of green screen acting. “I mean, its definition is monotonous. You have good people. You have other actors who are more experienced than me. Can you differentiate from one day to the next? No absolutely not. You have no idea what to do. I couldn’t even differentiate the next one. They kept saying, ” You’re in stage three.” Well, she’s like, “Which one is that?” “Blue.” They’re like, “Yeah. But you are in the seventh stage. ‘Which one?’ “blue”. I was like, “Ah, where?”

Bell, who often adopts acting style for his roles, said he made no attempt to stay in the character as Gorr Bean takes.

“This was a pitiful attempt to do that,” he said. “While I’m trying to get help getting the tusks in and out and explaining that I broke a nail, or that I’m tripping over the jacket.”

Recently, Bell said he had to “isolate” from co-star Chris Rock on the set of director David O.’s “Amsterdam” movie. Russell because he was “so funny I couldn’t act”.

“I had to go to him, and I went, ‘Hey buddy, I love talking to you, we have friends in common, but I can’t do that anymore,'” Bell said in September. ‘Because David didn’t ask me to make that movie so he could watch me Laugh. He wants me to be Burt and I’m forgetting how to be Burt.”
