Eiza González asks Marvel fans to stop attacking Elektra Casting

Eza Gonzalez confirmed on Twitter that she is not playing Electra in the upcoming Disney + Marvel series “Daredevil: Born Again” in the wake of the backlash and online harassment from Marvel fans. Rumors have been circulating online about Gonzalez’s alleged role in Electra since before San Diego Comic-Con in July, but some fans have criticized the acting and don’t want a Latin actor to play a Greek-origin comic book character.

“I feel like I’m going out of the way because I’m confused as to how much hate about this and two I feel saves people energy,” Gonzalez wrote on Twitter. “No, I’m not the Electra in the Daredevil movie.” I already have an ongoing exclusive contract for the “3 Body Problem” series. you are welcome.”

Gonzalez stars in “The Three-Body Problem,” the upcoming Netflix series from “Game of Thrones” makers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and says her involvement in the show means it’s not contractually possible to star in “Daredevil: Born.” Once again, the 18-episode series which will premiere in 2024.

“I would appreciate if I could live away from negative, ill-intentioned messages talking about playing/stealing a role I don’t even know about,” Gonzalez tweeted. “Thank you and I wish you all the best.”

Gonzalez added, “I hope to play a fantastic superhero at some point in my career and that will be so much fun and an honor to even be looked at. In the meantime, I’ll be watching Daredevil and sending in this movie with love.”

Charlie Cox and Vincent Donofrio reprise the roles of Daredevil and King Bean, respectively, in the movie “Daredevil: Born Again.” Not much is known about the series, including whether or not Elektra will appear in it. Élodie Yung played Elektra opposite Cox when “Daredevil” aired on Netflix.
