Steam Deck is now easier to buy

Valve has brought a major update to the availability of Steam Deck and one of its most requested addons. Earlier this year, Valve decided to take another crack at a piece of gaming hardware with Steam Deck. The company tried to move outside its software roots for some time, trying to make things like a PC/console type hybrid using Steam Machine, but it backfired and failed badly. It has had more success with VR, but the Valve headset is incredibly expensive and made it less attractive than some of its competitors. Now, enter the Steam Deck, an incredibly powerful Nintendo Switch-esque device that can play some of the best PC games like Red Dead Redemption 2 And the Spider-Man from Marvel.

However, a powerful and portable gaming device was in great demand when it was released. Throughout 2022, Valve worked to resolve several kinks with the device and ramp up production to try and match demand. For many, it can take months to actually get their reservation done, but things seem to be changing. Valve confirmed today that there’s no need to reserve for Steam Deck now and people can just buy it, which means you don’t have to wait to get one like before. Valve also confirmed that people can purchase the Steam Deck Dock, which allows you to connect the Deck to other devices and easily use it on TVs, monitors, and other screens. Overall, it looks like Steam Deck is already finding its groove now.

Valve has already confirmed that it has plans to make Steam Deck a multi-generational device, so you can expect more iterations in the future. It’s unclear if this will be an annual update like the iPhone or will be spaced out over several years to make room for a massive improvement of the device. Either way, Steam Deck is clearly here to stay.
