Traffic alert: Temporary lane closures will start on October 10 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport due to utility work!

Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Beginning October 10, travelers flying out of George Bush Intercontinental Airport will face temporary closure of runways due to necessary utility work.

Due to the current construction phase of the new international terminal, CenterPoint Energy will relocate and install critical infrastructure to provide power to Terminal D; New baggage check facility and tram system between stations.

The closures will be along the North Terminal Road to Terminals C, D and E. Lanes will be closed for approximately four weeks.

This is said to significantly affect traffic congestion, specifically in the afternoon peak times between 5pm and 8pm.

For the safety and experience of passengers, there will be active traffic monitoring, management on the sidewalk and additional officers on site as part of the traffic control.

Houston Airports recommends that travelers prepare for their trip to Busch Airport by planning and using resources such as booking parking in the garage. Those who pick up an oncoming passenger are advised to wait in the designated mobile phone stand until the passenger is on the sidewalk.

The construction at Bosch is part of the IAH plant redevelopment programme. Expected to be completed in late 2024, the airport will be home to the newest and most modern international terminals in the United States.
