James McAvoy, Lin-Manuel Miranda Join ‘His Dark Materials’ Finale

The action-packed final season of “His Dark Materials” will release its first two episodes in consecutive airing on HBO December 5, according to a teaser that premiered at New York Comic-Con. Season 3 will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

James McAvoy makes a major resurgence in the series as Lord Asril, who has been absent from the screen for much of the second season. The upcoming season focuses heavily on Asriel as he mobilizes military forces to wage a holy crusade against “authority” – the hostility of the spiritual force that dictates his universe.

Asriel reveals in the trailer: “I am gathering the greatest things in the world to help me wage war.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda also returns as Lee Scorsby, who will undoubtedly make a fiery comeback after his character’s supposed death in the season two finale.

Other cast members confirmed for the eight-episode season include series regulars Daphne Kane, Prince Wilson, Ruth Wilson, Simon Kirby, and Will Kane. The series, produced by Bad Wolf in association with New Line Cinema on BBC One and HBO, will release two new episodes every week from December until the series finale on December 26.

The final season is based on the novel “Amber Speculum”, the intense and anti-acute epilogue to his “Dark Materials” trilogy by Philip Pullman.

Next year’s TV series “The Knock$ Opportunity” aims to help financially disadvantaged families with work-based solutions. The ultimate goal for the Six Families for Season One—with each family entity considering one contestant—is to come up with a clear roadmap toward financial independence.

To achieve this goal, there will be three chance coaches to guide families in managing their finances: Jan Chatsky, Luis Barajas and Patrice Washington. Whether it’s learning how to live with student loans or how to pay off a line of credit, these guides will work directly with participating families to identify and overcome unique financial obstacles.

The show is available to stream on PBS Passport starting October 27 and will air across the US at the beginning of November.
