Houston, Texas (KTRK) – Houston police are looking for a driver they say killed a cyclist and fled the scene Tuesday night.

The events unfolded around 8 p.m., when the cyclist was part of a Pride Ride event held along W Dallas.

The group was in one of the lanes, when the victim lost control of his bike and started leaning onto the next lane. This is when a driver in a silver Mercedes collided with the cyclist. Police said the driver tried to leave the scene at high speed when his tire ran over the cyclist again.

Police said Al-Drag, a white man in his forties, was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The cyclists in the group tried to stop the driver but were unable to do so.

HPD said it is looking for the driver and video evidence in order to obtain a license plate.
