Pierce Brosnan fails the Batman test with a ‘stupid’ remark by Tim Burton

Pierce Brosnan is joining the DC Universe in his role as Doctor Fate in Black Adam, but in a different world, the James Bond actor might have been none other than Bruce Wayne/Batman. Brosnan revealed on “The Tonight Show” that he met Tim Burton to audition for the director’s 1989 movie “Batman,” but the “dumb” comment cost him the role.

“The last thing on my mind was to play a superhero like Doctor Fate,” Brosnan said, adding that he was rarely offered roles in superhero films throughout his career. “No, not really. No. I mean, I went up Batman Road the day Tim Burton was doing it. I obviously didn’t get the job.”

Brosnan continued, “I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton, saying, ‘You know I can’t understand any man who wears his underpants out of his pants. “But here you go…the best man got the job, and you know Dr. Fate and we were supposed to meet on the same page I guess.”

Michael Keaton won the role of Batman for Burton, and the duo will do “Batman” and “Batman Returns” together. Keaton reprized the character in “Batgirl,” which will no longer be released by Warner Bros., and in “The Flash,” which Warner Bros. will release in theaters on June 23, 2023.

While Brosnan missed Batman’s boat, he still enjoyed the life of the franchise through his role as James Bond. The actor joined the 007 franchise with the 1995 movie “GoldenEye.” JQ Brosnan recently asked which actor should replace Daniel Craig as James Bond news, and he replied, “Who should do that? I don’t care. It would be interesting to see who they’d get.” On him, and who will be the man. Whoever he is, I wish him well.”

Brosnan appeared as Doctor Fate in “Black Adam” on October 21.
