Scarlett Johansson: Joaquin Phoenix escaped from the set of ‘Her’ during an orgasm scene

Scarlett Johansson revealed on Dax Shepard’s Podcast “The Armchair Expert” (Across Indiewire) that her orgasmic recordings of “She” led to Joaquin Phoenix’s escape from the set. Phoenix has starred in the Spike Jonze-directed drama as a man who falls in love with his phone’s operating system, a Siri-like female voice named Samantha, played by Johansson. The two have a sexual relationship in the form of phone sex, which requires Johansson to record herself a fake orgasm.

“We tried to get one shot, and he was, like, losing it,” Johansson said. “He left the studio. He needed a break.”

Samantha Morton was originally cast as Samantha in “She” and the film was filmed with her reciting the phone dialogue. Johansson replaced Morton in post-production, re-recording all dialogue and filming additional scenes with Phoenix.
