And the creative team’s desire to swing for fences certainly paid off. Jen taking KEVIN on a mission to get trophies and easy unanswered questions is one of the season’s best moments.
Although she eventually got the go-ahead from Kevin Feige, Jessica Gao admitted that she initially found it difficult to break the finish. As Gao points out, she and her team first tried to land on something closer to what’s expected from the finale of the MCU show. In her own words:
It wasn’t always the original ending: it was a long journey to get to this point. I must have written like 20 versions of the epilogue, because when we got to the end, I thought so wrong, “I have to have fun. We have to do something different. I have to do Marvel’s ending. Marvel does things a certain way, you know, they follow certain rhythms, and that’s it.” The point where I should start standing in line and doing this. Like, that’s what I really thought.
