There are plenty of new TV shows that are supposedly great to keep track of. And that comes from someone trying to watch as much TV as possible (even covering shows that I don’t even enjoy watching). However, with the fall TV season slowing down a bit in streaming (both She-Hulk and Rings of Power aired in the finals this week), I knew it was time for my recommendation engine to come back.
So, we’re using one of our favorite resources to back up some of our favorite shows in Tom’s Guide. I like these seven shows All From critics, they earn 100% rotten tomatoes (Opens in a new tab) The results, which is very tricky when you consider how many seasons have been aired in several seasons.
Want more reccs? We’ve also had the best Netflix shows rated at 90% and above, the best Apple TV Plus shows rated at 90% and above, and the best Hulu movies at 90% and above.
So, let’s dive into what we love about seven of the best damn shows you can watch online — so you can fill in those cultural blind spots.
Live Broadcast Editor Henry T. Casey calls himself the “Live Man” for several reasons. He is obsessed with watching the latest hot shows, streaming devices and especially streaming services and what to watch. He’s trying to manage his budget while worrying about the impending HBO Max and Discovery Plus merger.
Bear (2022)
A bear may have a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it’s also not for everyone. That’s because he’s so good at capturing the chaos behind the scenes at a small family-owned Chicago diner that chops up hot Italian beef. After a tragedy in said family, successful chef Carme (Jeremy Allen White) returns to steer the ship into the future. White brings an amazingly tense mood to The Bear, with every little twitch in his face looking like a deliberate reaction to the chaos cooking around him. Family friend Richie (Eppon Moss Batrash) is often the one making this bullshit, because he doesn’t take kindly to Karmi’s “improvements.” Including hiring a young culinary school graduate Sidney (Ayo Edeberry), to help run the store.
The bear soars with a kinetic energy you rarely get the likes of on TV, and the big surprise in the movie’s finale is still in my mind rent-free. You should watch, cousin.

Bad Sisters (2022)
A death in the family should not be a cause for celebration. However, the Garvey sisters are different from most families. These five sisters survived the death of their parents, and swore to protect each other. Then Grace (Anne-Marie Duff) marries John Paul (Claice Pang), who treats her terribly. So, when does JP die? The other Garveys immediately thought it was time to pop the bottles. Which makes you wonder did they kill him? And this dark comedy is so intense you’ll laugh while you’ll rarely stop to wonder if you’re on the right side of history – cheering a man’s death.
The Garve family doesn’t seem innocent at all, but they are so well complete as the characters, with excellent chemistry between them, that you love them. And you’ll spend his ten episodes figuring out who’s actually responsible, and how much John Paul deserves it.

Yellowjackets (2021 – Ongoing)
The Yellowjackets seem to be flying over the skeletons from Lost’s Oceanic Flight 815, or at least they did during their amazing first season which earned a “perfect” critical consensus. In it, we meet a high school girls’ soccer team on their way to the Nationals, even with a lot of infighting and mistrust. Except, you know, their plane crashed on the way, and they got stuck in the wild. Perfect place for teens who really have trouble cooperating. And that’s part of why the Yellowjackets win, because it demonstrates the ability to use the dynamics of high school groups to create stellar tension and drama.
Everything seems bleak until the Yellowjackets pull another lost, flashing forward to the lives some surviving girls live as adults. Adults who have secrets from the time they spent after the accident. Built around an extraordinary crew, including Christina Ricci, Melanie Linsky and Juliette Lewis in fast turns, the Yellowjackets wowed the Yellowjackets in its first season.

Hacks (2021 – Ongoing)
Jean Smart rules Vegas as comedian Deborah Vance, or at least she used to. In Hacks, Vance is now nearing the end of her career, and appears to be selling more items of questionable quality on QVC than her live comedy performance on a large scale. So, she needs help getting her business back on track. Fortunately, her embattled boss Jamie (Paul W. Downs) has just the right guy: Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) is a blacklisted writer who has been banned for making false jokes about the wrong people.
While the two don’t get along at first—Deborah deftly insults everything about Ava, right down to her hands—the two soon learn to help each other out. It’s hard to stay mad at someone who makes fun of you with really good material. But the path toward career recovery is tough, especially when one is suing the other. Or it’s all about the state of bedding on the tour bus. However, just as women have to do in the entertainment world, Hacks are constantly proving themselves.

Fleabag (2016-2019)
Have you ever felt like your life is so chaotic that you could simply tell a show about it? The Phoebe Waller-Bridge TV series (which was adapted from her one-woman show) is so messy that she has dubbed it Fleabag. Over the course of two seasons of hilarious hilarious moments mixed with serious emotional lows, we’ve never heard someone call her character by the name (the script of the show calls her Fleabag), which is weird considering she goes through all the buzz.
Whether she’s dealing with catastrophe dating men or her godmother (Olivia Colman) dating her father, you’d think someone will address her by her name at some point. Fleabag is a perfect show, casting a shadow over her character for two seasons, and leaving long before it’s welcomed.

Adventure Time (2010-2018)
The world of adult animation is often filled with programs that are not particularly suitable for children. Adventure Time is that rare series that manages to hook the needle. While later seasons explore some topics (giving up, for example) that kids might not be ready for, Adventure Time is a great animated show for kids and kids alike.
This fantasy series instantly transports you to the land of Ooo, which we later realize is post-apocalyptic. But that’s not where the drama lies. It comes as Finn deals with his crush, spending his spare time adventuring and stopping the strange Ice King (Tom Kinney) from kidnapping several of the Princesses of Ooo. Oh, and Marceline the Vampire Queen (Olivia Olson)? Let’s just say her back story offers one of the best flashback episodes ever.
While Adventure Time may seem like a little too much, each of its episodes of 15 minutes or less is fun, and the show has built amazing characters and stories over the course of nine years.

big enough! (2022)
And now for something completely different. big enough! It will look either real joy or cruel and unusual punishment. In this series (which originally aired in Japan, and Netflix imported 20 episodes as a test of sorts), we meet a series of very young children (mostly under the age of five) who are sent on quests or quests that test their independent nature.
A totally useful piece of reality TV, old enough! It’s framed as a rival show, including a narrator who takes these kids’ tasks very seriously. Some contestants are seen as too meek by the show and their parents, and old enough! Serves as a means of payment on its own. As cool as heck (at least for some), Old Enough is one of our favorite Netflix shows of the year.
