MIPCOM: Coastal Organic Media Charter on Production and Sales

Taiwan-based development and production company Organic Media is teaming up with a Los Angeles-based sales agency and content aggregator Shoreline Entertainment in a strategic agreement that sees Shoreline taking over much of the Organic sales functions.

The pairing will debut on the MIPCOM TV rights market this week in Cannes. This will be followed by an appearance at the American Film Market in Santa Monica in early November.

Organic was founded in 2019 by veteran sales and production director Steve Chicorel and Kelly Mei Lee (“Bling Empire”) and now has operations in Taipei, Los Angeles, London, Riga and Brisbane. The operation, now headed up by Chicorel and Shari Hamrick, is currently in post-production on two films and the second season of “Cypher,” a series for Roku.

The strategic partnership between Organic and Shoreline is a bit of a reunion between Chicorel and Shoreline CEO Sam Eigen. Chicorel was previously CEO of Shoreline between 2002 and 2003 at the time Eigen was first hired by the company.

Eigen has since expanded Shoreline away from development and production to sales, assembly and streaming. It has 25 employees and a library of more than 4,000 titles.

Since leaving Shoreline, Chicorel has held various positions in Los Angeles and Greater China, including a stint at Western content financier, Double Edge Entertainment. He was instrumental in importing many Western titles, including “The Hunger Games” from Lionsgate to mainland China.

At MIPCOM, Shoreline will market six new membership movie packages currently in development, and 11 membership series packages will be featured through the big budget chain “Nemo” led by showrunner Alexander Kessel (“Chains”).

Organic mid-budget sci-fi film series includes “Interface” with series director Carl Seaton (“The Equalizer”, “Bull”, “Bel-Air”, “Godfather of Harlem”, “Batwoman”). Her low-budget comedies include “WTFitness,” led by comedian Craig Anderson.

Shoreline will also handle foreign sales of two completed organic series, including award-winning Russian dramas “Strings” and “The Pact” from Katara Studios, which are currently airing through an Organic production deal with Roku.

“Cooperating with Shoreline is a lifesaver because they are in so many markets and we can now focus more on developing and delivering content of all kinds,” Hamrick said.

“Since acquisitions executives often go into pre-purchase packages early on along with the final product, it will be profitable for both companies to synergistically attract more traffic and great to reunite with an old friend amidst new beginnings,” Eggen said.
