CNN podcast Appointment with Audi Cornish sets premiere date

Audi Cornish’s next podcast for CNN Audio, “The Assignment With Audie Cornish,” will air Thursday, November 17.

In this candid weekly show, the CNN anchor and reporter will talk to regular people “at the heart of the debates that shake up culture.” Topics on the weekly show include arts, education, politics, business, and sports. According to CNN, the podcast will feature stories from within communities and cultures to “shape what we experience.” “The Assignment With Audie Cornish” will release new episodes every Thursday and will be available to stream on CNN Audio, as well as Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other podcast platforms.

“I am delighted to launch The Assignment with the CNN Audio team,” Cornish said in a statement. “I’ve always wanted a show that highlights the voices of real people who live through stories at the intersection of serious news and pop culture.”

“Nothing is off limits, as we move on to thought-provoking conversations that grapple with issues most of us only discuss,” she added.

The news veteran joined CNN in January 2022. Originally, Cornish joined on board to host a show on CNN+ as well as a podcast — but Warner Bros. Discovery closed CNN+ one month after launching the subscription broadcast.

Cornish spent nearly two decades as a journalist for NPR, where he co-hosted the general radio broadcaster’s flagship news program All Things Considered. She won the George Peabody Award for her work on David Isay’s StoryCorps project, and the National Press Foundation honored her work with the 2020 Sol Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.

“The Assignment” joins CNN Audio’s roster of podcasts, which includes “All There Is With Anderson Cooper,” “Downside Up With Chris Cillizza,” “CNN 5 Things,” “CNN One Thing,” and “Chasing Life With Dr. “Ax Files with David Axelrod,” “Tug of War,” “Very Scary People,” and “Silence is Not an Option with Don Lemon.”
