Walt Disney World is a huge resort with so much to do, and it’s nearly impossible to do it all, especially in one trip. In addition to the four parks, there are two completely different water parks, but guests have only been able to experience one at a time since the pandemic, and that won’t change anytime soon, as Disney World has just announced that Blizzard Beach will open in a few weeks, while it will be Typhoon Lagoon is on the Disney World revamped list.
In March 2021, Blizzard Beach became the first Disney World water park to reopen after the global pandemic shutdown of the resort. It remained open until January 2022, at which point it was closed, and Typhoon Lagoon opened for its first bend since the pandemic. Now, the two water parks will be trading again, Disney World announced Blizzard Beach It will reopen after a lengthy renovation on November 13. This is also the first day Typhoon Lagoon is closed.
When Blizzard Beach reopens, it will have a slightly new look as some of the aesthetics have been updated. Tike’s Peak, the area designed for young children, now includes some items from frozen Including young Anna and Elsa and the igloo castle, and Olaf and the Snowgies from frozen fever short.
The winter season is still cold, by Florida standards at least, so this time of year we usually see water parks dropping for a makeover. We haven’t seen the incredibly crowded Typhoon Lagoon most of the time, so it seems Disney World doesn’t need to run both water parks even in the busy summer season, at least not yet.
We have yet to see both water parks open at the same time since the pandemic shutdown and it’s entirely possible that we won’t do that for some time. While recent attendance figures at theme parks have shown that 2021 has made significant gains, it’s clear that Disney World is still not seeing as many visitors as it once was. While that day will come, it may take some time.
And the rotating schedule we’ve been dealing with seems to be working. It is a good idea to have at least one water park that is open all year round for guests who want it. It is really a problem for those who have a particular preference for one water park over another.
If the Typhoon Lagoon goes off on a major renovation as Blizzard Beach just did, it will be closed for several months, but it’s possible that it will only be closed for a standard renovation, in which case it could open as early as next year, and we might see both parks open together for the first time. forever.
