Today, Apple has finally been able to deliver on its promise, introducing some missing features that it blocked during the initial release of iOS 16. While iOS 16.1 brings shared iCloud Photo Library, third-party support for live activities, Apple Fitness Plus, and many other features, There are also smaller details that can often be overlooked, such as the addition of clean energy charging. If you are a T-Mobile customer, you can buy the all-new iPhone 14 from this carrier. It’s available in several finish and storage options, allowing you to get the custom look you want.

Clean power charging is quite smart, the iPhone detects your local power status as soon as it is plugged in. The feature works in conjunction with optimized battery charging to learn your habits. Clean Power Charging will only work for times when the phone knows you’ll be keeping your phone plugged in and charged for an extended period of time. This could be at work, home, or any place where the phone has been left charging for an extended period of time. Perhaps the most convenient thing is that the feature won’t react when you’re in a new place, which means you won’t be left with a nasty surprise when traveling and charging on the go. Apple states that because it needs your location for this feature, it will retrieve location data when necessary.

Once it learns your pattern, the iPhone will then retrieve a carbon emissions forecast from the local network, so it can understand when it’s time to charge, and charge your phone with cleaner power. While it might be a small thing, it can have a big impact, especially when you consider how many iPhones are eligible to upgrade to iOS 16. Two small things to note are that the feature will be turned on by default with iOS 16.1, but you can choose Turn it off by going to the Settings menu, going to Battery, then Battery Health, and finally turning off Clean Energy Charging. The other thing is that the feature is currently only available to those in the US. Therefore, if you are in another area, you will not be able to access. Apple hasn’t said if it will roll out shipping clean energy to other countries.
