Over the years as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become the dominant force in pop culture, and at the theatrical box office, it has become standard practice to ask any director or producer not involved in comic book films what they think of comic book films. We all know Martin Scorsese doesn’t think the Marvel movies are cinema but now James Cameron has joined the fray to say the biggest problem is that the characters don’t have real relationships.
talk with The New York Times James Cameron says having children changed him a lot, and that’s something he wants to portray in his films. We know that Avatar: Water Road He’ll see Jake and Neytiri, the main characters from the first movie, as parents, which is apparently because Cameron wants to tell stories other franchises like Marvel and DC don’t have. Cameron explains…
James Cameron at least even in his criticism of comic book films. He mentions Marvel by name but also DC when he said the characters don’t have really serious relationships. Interestingly enough, Zoe Saldana, whose upcoming films include Guardians of the Galaxy franchise as well symbol picturepart of the interview, but he doesn’t talk about it.
On the face of it, there is definitely some truth to what Cameron is saying here. If you were growing up and moving on from your life before because you now have kids, that’s part of what defines a character with relationships, most Marvel and DC characters don’t have that. Some of them have children or personal relationships that are the core of their characterization, but most of them are not. That doesn’t mean they’re completely relationshipless, but that’s not what the movies are about.
Of course, while there is no argument that audiences might be able to better empathize with a character with relationships like this, that doesn’t mean that this is the only way to do it. Giving a character, says Cameron, strength, love, and purpose is important, but that doesn’t mean giving them a family is the only way to achieve it.
However, the fact that Avatar: Water Road It will be a family story that will give the James Cameron movie a way to stand out compared to other major supporting films that are not just about Avatar 2Brilliant technology. This movie will be based on a family dynamic, not so much superhero stories, and fans can simply choose which story they would like to watch, or likely watch both, and decide which one is more important to them.
