CW layoffs reach post-Nexstar cuts (exclusive)

Nexstar laid off 30-40 employees of The CW on Tuesday, in the broadcaster’s first major employee overhaul since it changed ownership, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Among those cuts was Paul Hewitt, CW’s longtime head of communications, who was replaced by Beth Feldman. In addition, several executives in distribution, strategy, and affiliate relations were let go, with Google’s veterinary Rebecca Dobb taking over these divisions.

Nexstar is wasting little time on revamping CW, a plan that began by replacing longtime CW boss Mark Pedowitz who was ousted when Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery’s closed the sale of the network to Nexstar in August. Broadcasting was also cut in the wake of the deal, as broadcasting and brand promotion Rick Haskins and advertising sales director Mitch Neddick took place.

More is coming…
