Kevin Spacey Appears in First Talk with Italian Professional Lessons

Kevin Spacey is set to make his first speaking gig in five years with master classes at the Italian National Film Museum in Turin, where he will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The two-time Academy Award winner (“American Beauty”, “The Usual Suspects”), who has not appeared in court since being accused of sexual misconduct in 2017, is scheduled to give a talk onstage on January 16, 2023, in the Auditorium Celebrations of the famous Mall Antonelliana tower in Turin, which houses the Film Museum.

The main show, conducted by Museum President Domenico Di Gaetano, will be followed by a screening at the Museum’s Cinema Massimo of a film from Spacey’s career that the actor will choose and present.

Earlier this month, Spacey scored a legal victory when a New York jury found him irresponsible in a civil sexual assault trial brought by fellow actor Anthony Rapp. However, he still faces charges in the UK for allegedly sexually assaulting three men while he was living in London and working as artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre. Spacey has pleaded not guilty.

The actor was also ordered to pay MRC, producer of “House of Cards,” $31 million after the political thriller series’ order was cut in the wake of abuse allegations against Spacey.

Turin is the city where the American actor returned to acting last year, starring as a police detective in Franco Nero’s low-budget independent drama Lomo Chi Dicino Duo (“The Man Who Drew God”). While filming this movie, Spacey visited the museum and took an informal tour.

“We are honored that a distinguished guest such as Kevin Spacey has chosen Turin and an institutional setting such as our museum for this welcome and long-awaited return,” National Film Museum President Enzo Jeju said in a statement. “It is a great honor to host master classes for one of the greatest actors of film and theater of our time.”

Kevin Spacey Masterclass tickets will go on sale December 20. It has not yet been decided whether the event will be broadcast live.

Although the main course in Turin will mark Spacey’s first official public appearance since his career broke out in 2017, the actor in 2018 unceremoniously returned to the spotlight, once again in Italy, when he gave a public reading to a performance of a poem called “The Boxer”. By Italian poet Gabriele Tinti, about a weary boxer, worn out, in front of the Roman National Museum in Rome.
