MediaWan’s new productions bow out with Escort Boys and Hot Ones

Mediawan’s recently launched bannerNation Productions label kicks off a pair of internationally paid shows based on hit IPs, “Escort Boys” and “Hot Ones”.

The company was set up last year by two well-known producers, Charlotte Toledano Detail and Jean-Paul Jeronemy who previously worked at Lagardere Studios now part of Mediawan.

Arranged by Amazon Prime Video, “Escort Boys” marks the television debut of Ruben Alves, maker of the “Gilded Cage” and “Miss” films. StoryNation is producing the series with Miriam Gharbi de Vassilot at Oberkampf Productions, another subsidiary of the Mediawan group.

“Escort Boys” is loosely based on the Israeli series “Johnny and the Knights of the Galilee,” produced by YES Studios, and created by Danny Rosenberg and Tom Shuval.

The highly anticipated six-part French film was shot in southern France with a host of newcomers and faces including Guillaume Labbé, Thibaut Evrard, Simon Ehrlacher, Corentin Fila and Marysole Fertard, among others. Each episode will feature a French star in the veins of “Call My Agent!”

Escort Boys will be available exclusively on Prime Video in France and worldwide. Toledano Detel said she spotted the Israeli show years ago and spent time developing it so that it would strike a chord and resonate in today’s society. “Escort Boys is a very recent series that examines relationships between men and women in the post-#MeToo era,” producer said, adding that Elvis was able to bring to the show his knack for blending drama, comedy, glamor and glamor.

Toledano Detail said both “Escort Boys” and “Hot Ones” underscore StoryNation Productions’ ambition to acquire international talent and intellectual property, as well as reach global audiences. As such, the company will primarily work with streamers.

“Hot Ones” is the French adaptation of the American interview format from Complex Networks that has racked up billions of views on YouTube since its kneeling in 2015.

The French adaptation of “Hot Ones” by famous French comedian Kian Khoujandy is broadcast on Canal +. Among the guests who interviewed each other are famous French actors such as Jonathan Cohen, Marina Fo and Jamel Debbouze.

“Hot Ones” is co-produced with Cameron, a Mediawan subsidiary of the Mediawan Group, and Canal+. Since its launch on the French pay-TV group in April, the 8-part program has garnered more than 12 million views on Canal+-owned YouTube channel Studio Bagel. The second season is currently under discussion.

Geroniemi said he and Toledano Detaille have a proven track record in novels and documentaries, having previously produced a successful Netflix documentary series “Gregory.” Jeronimo continued, “We look forward to continuing the production of weaving written, fiction and documentary series.”

The two producers have a flurry of other French and international projects in the pipeline for streaming devices including Disney+ and HBO Max.

“We are committed to bringing out talent with a unique vision,” the couple said. They continued, “Our goal is to tell powerful stories that are rooted in our region and culture but have the potential to reach a global audience.”

Both executives have a proven track record in the French entertainment industry, having worked for major companies such as Banijay and Lagardere Studios, as well as Elephant and Newen.

Mediawan is a rapidly growing media group with production labels in several key regions, including France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and the United States.
