Twitter Makes Twitter Blue $7.99 Pricing Official, Features a Blue Verified Badge, Fewer Ads, and More

A new update for Twitter for iOS now shows that Twitter Blue will cost $7.99 per month from now on and will include perks like seeing fewer ads.

After a long week of news and rumors on Twitter, the company updated its app this weekend, bringing with it a new pricing for its Twitter Blue subscription service. According to the new description in the app after the update, the service will now cost $7.99 per month and will include access to the coveted blue verification badge and a few other upcoming features.

Twitter update with the new $8 Blue update

Although the description in the App Store has been changed to show the new price, it doesn’t seem to be fully implemented yet. If you happen to check other sources for Twitter Blue, you’ll likely see that the prices haven’t been updated on the Twitter website. Also, checking for an updated iOS app now will only show a “Subscribe” button with no price. But, even trying to tackle a Twitter Blue subscription shows that the cost of the service is still set at the old $4.99 price tag.

According to Esther Crawford, Twitter’s director of product management, the company is currently “testing in real time” and tweets that the features are not yet operational, and all will be available soon. As of now, it appears that things are still in a transitional phase.

But, by subscribing to the new Twitter Blue, in addition to the blue Verified badge, in the future, users will see fewer ads, get access to longer video posts, and have user priority when it comes to replies, mentions, and search queries. For now, the new Twitter Blue app with verification will only be available on the iOS app and in certain regions. So, if you live outside Australia, Canada, the United States, New Zealand or the United Kingdom, you will not be able to access the new Twitter Blue.
