McKenna noted that social media is often curated to show only the side of life we want others to see, and that we don’t witness the “ugly, cruel, less satisfying aspects of a person and their life.” She then admitted, “For me, it would have been easier to hide my suffering and insecurity and perhaps write about it in songs, but that didn’t fix it.”
