The creators of ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5, what do you expect

The creators of Stranger Things are giving more hints about what to expect from the upcoming fifth and final season.

During Sunday night’s FYC panel session, creators Matt and Ross Dover, director Shawn Levy, and stars Millie Bobby Brown (who attended by default), Caleb McLaughlin, Bria Ferguson, Jimmy Campbell Power, Joseph Quinn and Eduardo Franco opened about season four. Processes.

At the end of the conversation, moderator Patton Oswalt tried to get news from the executive producers about the tone of Season 5, asking them if there were new horror legends or pop culture moments they had planned for when they came back.

“Five, the way we see it, is kind of a climax for all seasons, so it kind of’s got a little bit of each,” said Ross Dover at Todome Theatre. “While before every season it was very special… [Season] 3 is our big summer season with big monsters, and [Season] 4 It was psychological horror. I think what we’re trying to do is go back to the beginning a little bit, in sort of a 1 tone.”

He added that the last set of episodes “on a large scale” is “more in line with what [Season] 4 is.” Ross told the audience, “I hope he has a little bit of everything.”

Although no spoilers were revealed during the 45-minute discussion, the team shared that the first episode (titled “The Crawl”) was complete and that the Netflix team’s two-hour presentation meeting, during which they laid out the overall plan for the event, the executives shed Tears.

“Just as important as the supernatural, we have many characters now, and most of them are still alive,” Ross said. “It’s important to finish these arcs because a lot of these characters have been growing since season 1. So, it’s a balancing act between giving them time to complete their character arcs and also tying up these loose ends and doing the final reveal.”

Levy noted that while he’s “paralyzed with fear” of spoiling anything, he’s constantly impressed with the work the Duffers have done.

“Although the show has gained a lot of popularity and the characters have become very iconic, and it’s a lot about the ’80s and the supernatural and genre, it’s all about those people,” he said. “It’s about these characters. Season 5 really started to get interested in these stories of characters, because that’s always been the lifeblood of Stranger Things.”

The team has previously talked about holding back from adding new characters in the final season, in order to focus fully on the large group they already have.

“When we introduce a new character, we want to make sure it’s going to be an integral part of the narrative,” Matt said in August. “That’s a thing with Eddie this season, where we’re going, ‘OK, we need a character here for this story to really work, and give it the needed engine. But every time we do that, we get nervous, because you’re saying, ‘We’ve got a great group of characters here, the actors, and any moment we’re with a new character, we’re taking time away from one of the other actors. So we are very, very careful about who we serve.”
