Natalie admitted that she still had feelings for Mike, and even mentioned the possibility of them getting back together again. Mike definitely seemed reluctant to let Natalie back into his life, though he slowly, lowered his guard. Before things can get too far, their reunion is interrupted by Mike’s mother, Trish.
If there was even a part of Mike accepting Natalie’s forgiveness for leaving him, it seemed obvious that Trish would remind him of all the reasons he shouldn’t. A short clip from next week’s episode showed Natalie and Trish dating, and Mike’s mom didn’t hold back from what we heard her say:
I used Michael completely. That’s all I did. I used it to get to America.
It’s no secret that Trish had reservations about Natalie from the start, even asking her friends to object during the wedding because she didn’t approve of the relationship. Natalie had to expect that Trish wouldn’t accept it once she returned to her son’s life, and would probably return to the house she currently lives in as well.
Natalie cries and buries her head into Mike’s chest in the next scene, but she can’t seem resigned to giving up a second chance with her ex. In fact, she seemed confident that she could get Trish to her side on the condition that Michael wanted to be with her:
Trish views me as someone who could take her son away from her, but she would accept that if I wanted to be with Michael.
Natalie’s evolution into wanting a future with Mike again is surprising, especially given her The number of issues They had it in their short marriage. It seems unlikely that these two are actually serious about getting back together, but I guess I’ll have to wait for the next episode to see what happens.
