The menu offers a stacking plate of dark comedy that divides the elite class and cliched fare like plenty of pork tenderloin. The list isn’t looking to go any deeper than it needs to, but it does know how to stand out from its crowd. Some good laughs come with the absurdity of this premise, plus plenty of reasons to be shocked when things start to heat up. It’s a fun and well acted movie.
Ann Hornaday from Washington Post gives the film 2.5 out of 4 stars, saying its “burning, lovingly caring heart” is in the right place, even if it takes things too far to the extreme:
Once the game gets going, the menu soufflé begins to sag, as the plot becomes more bleak in direct proportion to the body horror jump scares. “Eating the rich” might be a popular theme this movie season, but the menu takes the idea to extremes that finally conquer the palate.
