We have good news and bad news about the second season of Andor. What’s the good news? Well, the Disney Plus series continues. It was long anticipated to be a multi-season run, so this sequel doesn’t come as a huge surprise.
The downside, however, is about how we get to Andor Season 2 – and what happens after that. Not only will there be a long wait, but this second season will be all scripted by showrunner Tony Gilroy.
One of the best Star Wars shows (or projects, really) ever, Andor’s fate is already set. Gilroy (Opens in a new tab) He told the press that the second season of Andor will be the end of it. Andor Season 2 will also match the first installment, running 12 episodes in total.
So, while we wait to watch the Andor finale online, here’s everything we know about Andor Season 2.
Andor 2nd Release Date Speculation: When Should We Expect More?
We don’t have a Andor Season 2 release date yet, but we can take a look back at the past season to give us some clues.
Originally (Opens in a new tab)Filming for the first season of Andor was scheduled between November 2020 and July 2021. Then reports (Opens in a new tab) Leaked from the Covid-19 outbreak that has put “whole departments” in isolation. Then I turn Been completed (Opens in a new tab) Filming in September 2021. The first season premieres in Andorra a year later, in September 2022.
This helps because we know Andor Season 2 is set to begin filming on November 21, 2022 for every showrunner Tony Gilroy speaks to. collider (Opens in a new tab). If Andor season 2 keeps to the above timeline, and avoids the Covid-19 outbreak (which is far from a given), it’s not too far-fetched to think we could see it. Andor Season 2 releases in July 2024. It’s based on an eight-month shooting schedule and a year of post-production work.
Don’t believe us? Gilroy (Opens in a new tab) He himself said that you shouldn’t expect Andor until 2024, and that the series will likely finish filming in August 2023 – with a year of post-production.
Team Andor Season 2: Imagine Rebellion and Empire
There can’t be Andor Season 2 without it Diego Luna, who plays Cassian Geron Andor, a man on his way to becoming an integral part of the Rebel Alliance. We know from Rogue One that he’s become a soldier, pilot, and intelligence officer – and Andor is all about his journey to that role.
Ultimately, that means we will be seen and heard Alan Tudyk’s droid K-2SObut Gilroy actually pushed it return (Opens in a new tab) to the distant future.
As for the rest of the potential second season of Endor? There are five main characters who were shocked when they were killed off in the Season 1 finale. The most important one Luthin Rael by Stellan Skarsgårda man whose tactics are constantly questioned by others, including Sue Guerrera (Forest Whitaker), who we know lives to be half man, half machine in Rogue One. Rael feels like a founding part of the Rebel Alliance, always speaking toward a goal greater than Endor.
Other big names we don’t expect to kill off soon are the biggest thorn in the side of the children’s rebellion: Deidre Miro (Denise Goff) And the Cyril Karn (Kyle Soler). Meru is a rising star in the Galactic Empire’s Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) – hunting down the “Axis”, the person she believes is the link to all anti-Empire activity.
This man may be Anto Krieger, a bald, bearded man, shown in hologram in Episode 11, but that role doesn’t appear to have been cast (no name was given to the character in the credits – which makes us think this image may have been a composite) . Karen overstepped his bounds when he tried to chase Cassian down, and he’s been trying to dig himself out of that hole ever since.
Finally, the other character we expect to see more of is Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly)whose story currently revolves around financing the rebellion. Unfortunately, that would require her to make a deal regarding her daughter Leda (Bronte Carmichael). banking Dafoe Skeldon (Richard Dillane) He barter with Mon Mothma, offering her help in exchange for setting his son up with Leida.
Mothma’s husband, Perrin Virtha (Alastair Mackenzie) is at the top of the list of actors who could return, but we’re not sure how well he integrates with the show’s overarching story.
When we shift the virtual cameras to Ferrix, we have a cadre of potential Cassian allies for Season 2, although some of them are in danger. Sadly, we don’t expect to see more acquaintances of Andor (Fiona Shaw), Cassian’s mother who passed away off camera.
One of Cassian’s last allies who isn’t in trouble, Brasso (Jobelin Septen), seems like a man with no guarantee of his future. The same can be said of Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona) who is kept and tortured by the ISB. Salman Pak (Abhin Galia), who ran the comms tower that Bix used to communicate with Luthen, is being held at the ISB, where we hear they are going to hang him to set an example. Salman’s son, Wilmon (Muhannad Bahir), is currently divorced.
Finally, there’s B2EMO, the adorable rust-red robot that sways when he stutters. If B2EMO doesn’t make it to Andor Season 2, consider our hearts broken.
Andor season 2 plot
The story is as simple as it gets. Cassian Andor is a man on the run, and he will become someone who is not a member of the Rebel Alliance. Mon Mothma, one of the pillars of the same group, struggles to control her destiny.
Luthen Rael and Saw Guerrera have a falling out and try to figure out what they’re up to and how to best disrupt the status quo – and Dedra Meero and Syril Karn try to stifle the rebellion. We know that Cassian is going to help destroy the Death Star. As for the rest of these names, we’ve only seen Mothma and Gerrera appear in Rogue One.
Andor season 2 will apparently be about how these people evolve – and what forces are pushing them in directions they might not expect. Of course, Andor’s season 1 finale may do some of that push, but we’ll talk about that once it airs.
What we do know for a fact, however, is that Andor’s Season 2 finale will tie directly into Rogue One. Gilroy said Limit (Opens in a new tab) said that the 24th and final episode of Endore will “lead audiences directly to the first scenes of Rogue One”.
