iCloud for Windows users are said to be seeing random family photos from strangers

According to online reports, iCloud for Windows users are dealing with corrupted videos and random photos of families and children from strangers.

Apple prides itself on its strict privacy and security measures that keep users’ data safe. Many people invest in the company’s products, such as Iphone And the mac, just for peace of mind – knowing their data is out of the hands of third parties. However, no complex software is free from bugs, and sometimes the most secure companies discover the biggest vulnerabilities in their systems.

As you know, Apple offers iCloud app for Windows. The software allows computer users to access some of their iCloud data, including photos and videos they’ve uploaded. The app has been around for a long time (not to be confused with the newly introduced Windows 11 iCloud integration), but a new bug appears to be affecting it.

According to reports on MacRumors Forums, some users see corrupted videos in iCloud for Windows. More importantly, random photos of families and children of strangers also seem to be showing up in the app. Concerned user says:

iCloud for Windows corrupts videos recorded from iPhone 14 pro max resulting in black videos with scan lines. On rare occasions, it inserts still images into videos from unknown sources, possibly other iCloud accounts. I was shown pictures of other people’s families that I’ve never seen before, soccer games, and other random pictures. This is obviously very worrisome and doesn’t make me feel safe using iCloud.

Based on the reports, it appears that the corrupted files revolve around videos shot on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro models. Screenshots in some cases show a black screen with scan lines. More disturbing though, is the random content shown to some users. Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s possible that photos of families, children, and other special moments belong to other people’s iCloud libraries. If this is the case, Apple could run into some serious problems. Unfortunately, deleting the iCloud for Windows app doesn’t seem to solve this, as the issues are reflected on the server.
