Does Jonathan Majors wear Dennis Rodman’s wedding dress in the NBA movie?

Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”

Jonathan Majors Prepare to distinguish Dennis Rodman In “48 Hours in Vegas,” Lionsgate’s upcoming movie about a Chicago Bulls player’s famous weekend trip to Sin City in the middle of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz.

Majors, who stars in the new Korean War drama “Devotion,” says he hasn’t spoken to Rodman yet. “It’s on my list,” he told me at the Governors Awards. “I know where he is and I think he’s open-hearted and wants to collaborate. I want to do justice through him.”

Two years before the story took place in the movie, Rodman caused quite a stir when he showed up at a New York City book signing for his memoir, Bad As I Want To Be, in pulling on an all-white wedding dress. I asked Majors if there was a chance we could see him recreate the look for the big screen. “This is not far from the realm of possibility,” he said with a laugh. “I have to make the movie so whatever it takes.”

He was careful not to give any guarantees: “I don’t know if I can promise you that. We have to find out what the director wants.”

I asked her about the casting rumors when we ran into the Women’s Academy lunch on Nov. 16. “I love Marvel. I love Mahershala,” Prince-Bythewood said. If she goes into that world, it has to be a character I grew up with and love and want to see represented in the world.”

She also said that while she’s “tipped” to return as director for the “Woman King” sequel, that won’t happen. “I put a lot of myself into this, and I said everything I wanted to say about this particular epic,” Prince-Bythewood said, adding that she is developing a new historical epic. “I’m really excited to do that, and after the success of The Woman King, I feel like it opened the door for him.”

Lucy Boynton He says that before working with him Christian Bale in Scott CooperIn The Pale Blue Eye, she was aware of all the talk about an Academy Award winner being a little tough and tough. As I’ve said many times, I’ve always enjoyed meeting Bill – he’s personable, funny and not intimidating. “I heard these rumors and was very much prepared to stay away and give him a place for whatever operation he had,” Boynton told me at the Women’s Academy luncheon. “But he was incredibly engaged with the whole crew and the cast and was incredibly kind and accommodating. There are some scenes in our movie that reach an emotional climax, and he was so caring to everyone in that environment. He’s so sweet, and it’s really easy to be with him.” Boynton speculated that she might start a “Christian Bale Is Kind” campaign to help repair his reputation.

Elisabeth Moss She says she still hopes to make and star in a film adaptation of the former congresswoman Katie HillMemoir “You Will Rise: Becoming a Warrior in the Battle for True Equality.” “We’re trying to find a home for her,” the “Handmaid’s Tale” star tells me. The project was announced more than two years ago and will chronicle Hale’s political rise and sudden fall from grace after intimate photos of her were leaked to the tabloid press. Hill said she was caught up in a cycle of domestic violence but also revealed that she had an inappropriate relationship with a campaign staffer prior to her election. “It’s a very complicated story,” Moss says. “It’s a story that doesn’t have one side. It’s not black and white. … We’re interested in exploring it with honesty, not prejudice.”

Moss says Hill has been “very open so far. She wants to make sure all parties are told about it, which is very generous of her.”
