The European Film Academy reveals the winners of the Excellence in Craftsmanship Awards

The European Film Academy has revealed the eight winners of its Excellence Awards, covering the Arts and Crafts categories. These will receive their awards during the European Film Awards on December 10 in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Kate McCullough won Best European Photography For “The Quiet Girl,” an Irish drama directed by Colm Bairéad that played at many festivals, including the Berlinale where it won the Generation K-Plus Grand Jury Prize.

The European Liberation Prize has been awarded to Ozkan Vardar and Eitan Ibeker For Emin Alper’s Burning Days, a politically oriented Turkish film that had its world premiere at Cannes in the Un Certain Regard section.

Belfast, a modern drama film written and directed by Kenneth Branagh, took home two awards for European Production Design for Jim Clay and European Costume Design for Charlotte Walter. The film previously won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and a BAFTA Award for British Film of the Year.

European cosmetics and hair were awarded to Heike Merker for All Quiet on the Western Front, the World War I drama by Edvard Berger which also won European visual effects from Frank Petzold, Victor Müller and Marcus Frank.

The original European score was given to Paweł Mykietyn for Jerzy Skolimowski at Cannes jury prize winner “EO”, while the European soundtrack won Simone Paolo Olivero, Paolo Benvenuti, Benny Atria, Marco Saita, Ansgar Fririch and Florian Holzner about the “hole”.

The Excellence Awards were selected by a special jury of eight members representing various arts and crafts, including Henrich Borarós (Production Designer, Czech Republic), Pascal Capitoline (Sound Designer, France), Jaime Cibrian (VFX Supervisor, Spain) , Charlotte Chang (make-up and hair artist, Germany), Christina Georgiou (composer, Cyprus), Magdalena Lapuz (costume designer, Luxembourg), Sarah McTeague (editor, Ireland/Italy), and Natalie Peters (cinematographer, UK).
