“Criminal Minds: Evolution” is cast on Rossi’s wife, Garcia and Alves

It’s been nearly three years since Criminal Minds ended, but a lot has changed within the BAU. When the new show begins, Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) is no longer alone, and living her best life. She has thrived on her own throughout the pandemic and is enjoying a lighter, less murder-filled life. Of course, this is short-lived, as Alves (Adam Rodriguez) comes knocking on her door at the premiere.

In a blink-of-the-eye moment, if you missed it, she suggests they did go on a date — he finally asked her out during the 2020 final — but it was simply “one dinner, three years ago” and they’re actually “thriving as enemies.”

However, this flirtation will continue, Vangensis asserts.

“I find the rollercoaster of feeling good and very dissatisfied Satisfyingshe says. “I spent a lot of time with Adam. You can see our deep disdain for each other evolving into even deeper disdain. During the pandemic, we got close as people – after all, we were going on double dates with our partners! “

And this season, which features more Garcia than ever before, she adds, the couple clearly have an easy relationship. “We trust each other a lot,” Vangsness says.

But not everyone at BAU is in such a positive space. David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) is in a dark place when the show begins, and it is soon revealed that his wife, Crystal, died about a year ago.

“I was very shocked at first when I read it,” Mantegna admits. “I am so enjoying this cartoon. It’s a two-wheeler and it’s the caveman looking up and saying, ‘Oh my God, why are you doing this to me?’ And God says, ‘Why not?’ To me, that’s what life is about. You can’t regulate what happens You’re in life, and you get brought down—what are you going to do? Are you going to lie there or are you going to get up? That’s where we find Rossi. He has a decision to make here. Things happen to good people and bad people. There’s no accounting for that.”

while saying that when the audience sees Rossi again, it will “let itself go”. “You scared me when I watched the first episode!” Mantegna says with a laugh.

But he knows the character will be able to succeed. “I’m betting on Dave. It’s going to take a little bit. It’s part of the evolution.”
