Black Friday laptop deals don’t get much better than the $650 Yoga 7i

Great selection of laptops at a very affordable price

Lenovo Yoga 7i is an excellent convertible laptop with plenty of processing power and a decent GPU for light gaming and photo and video editing.

Lenovo’s enlarged Yoga 7i (Gen 7) takes the convertible form factor and gives it a 16-inch display with a QHD+ resolution. A full keyboard with numpad and oversized touchpad make productivity easy, and it has the performance to crush workloads thanks to the Intel 12th Gen Core chipset.

The convertible laptop market is dominated by small computers between 12 and 14 inches. So when we find a larger convertible—in this case a 16-inch—for sale, it’s worth writing about. Lenovo has already hosted some of its best Black Friday laptop and PC sales on its official site, but it’s hard to beat the Yoga 7i 16 (Gen 7) deal at Best Buy. You can get this convertible magnifier for $350 off the regular price of $1,000, bringing the total to just $650. This is a laptop I’ve personally used, and one I’d recommend even at full price. Being able to get it for the cost of a much lower laptop makes it that much better.

What makes the Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 so good?

I tested both the smaller Yoga 7i 14 and the larger Yoga 7i 16 (Gen 7) earlier this year and totally went for what Lenovo has to offer. The PC manufacturer has done a lot of work on its mid-range lineup, and it’s paying off. The chassis is now rounded along the edges for a more comfortable grip in tablet mode, and it doesn’t dig into your wrists as much while typing. The keyboard is comfortable for long typing days and they even have a full number pad for the accountants out there. The touchpad won’t hold you back either. It’s enormous.

A lot of the laptops on sale during Black Friday will have reduced corners, especially on the screen, to keep the price down. Lenovo didn’t take that bait here, offering a 2560 x 1600 (QHD+) resolution for a 16:10 aspect ratio. Color reproduction is excellent, and there’s plenty of brightness to combat glare. The choice of ports is also very generous. There are two Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, two USB-A 3.2 (Gen 1) ports, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack. You can always connect to one of the better Thunderbolt 4 docks, but the native selection here is probably enough for most workloads.

This specifically discounted model comes with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1240P processor (CPU) with 12 cores and 16 threads, giving you the power to take your day-to-day workload off the table. It’s joined by 8GB of soldered LPDDR5-4800MHz RAM and a 256GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD that can be upgraded after purchase. This is a great set of convertible laptops at a great price.
