Free TV is the gift everyone needs, and Roku is staying true to its brand this holiday season. A whole new batch of free TV channels coming to Roku for December has dropped, totaling 13 channels — and it even includes sports channels, which is the only thing cord-cutters are struggling with.
But the better news is that these channels are not Just On Roku devices: List of new free and linear channels, announced by Roku over here (Opens in a new tab)It will be available to stream on Roku Channel website (Opens in a new tab) And also on iOS and Android devices via the Roku app.
So what will come our way? Well, there are four channels of holiday music that come from iHeartRadio, and if that sounds like a bit too much, we guess you don’t know how deep their catalog of holiday music is. You have a channel for holiday jazz, another for the classics, and more.
Next up, we have two new free sports channels for Roku. The NHL channel will be looking to mix news, replays, action from the latest games, iconic moments in hockey history, and other content from across the league. Then there’s the Women’s Sports Network, which aggregates content from all the women’s sports leagues from around the world.
And for anyone looking for ideas for what to cook tonight, or to bring to their next holiday party, there’s Come Dine with Me. Collects episodes from the popular Channel 4 show (UK network), which has been on the air for 45 seasons (or as it’s referred to there, 45 series).
The most exciting addition would have to be WildEarth, which we want to check out for ourselves. The channel shows live experiences with wild animals, and there is an interactive component. With these channels, the Roku Channel now has over 350 networks to choose from.
