Jake Gyllenhaal chats with the star of Presumed Innocent on Apple TV+

Jake Gyllenhaal is in negotiations to star in “Presumed Innocent,” the upcoming limited series on Apple TV+ that stars David E. Kelley, JJ Abrams, and Dustin Thomason.

Based on Scott Turow’s 1987 novel of the same name, Presiomed Innocent tells the story of a harrowing murder that upends a Chicago prosecuting attorney’s office when one is suspected of the crime, and explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused struggles to For the cohesion of his family and marriage.

Gyllenhaal will play Rusty Sabich, an overzealous district attorney accused of killing a close associate after evidence starts pointing in his direction.

Preordered Innocent was ordered for the series in February. Kelly is adapting the novel for television and will serve as showrunner and executive producer for David E. Kelley Productions with Matthew Tinker. Abrams executive produces alongside Rachel Rusch Rich for Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. Thomason, Shar White, and Gyllenhaal also serve as executive producers, while Toro and Mickey Johnson serve as co-executive producers. Warner Bros. Television, where Bad Robot is under a package deal, is the studio in the project.
