List of Children’s and Family Emmys 2022 Children’s Award Winners – Creative Arts

After breaking away from the Daytime Emmys, the first-of-its-kind Children’s and Family Emmys ceremony was held.

Taking place at the Wilshire Ebel Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday, December 10, the first night of festivities focused on the creative arts, with awards for achievements in writing, directing, sound direction, cinematography, editing and more.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the creation of the Children’s and Family Emmys in late 2021, signaling the recent growth in range and reach among those programs, which NATAS President and CEO Adam Sharp said could “stand back on its own two feet.” Younger audiences don’t watch daytime TV anymore – much of the innovation in children’s and family television in recent years has taken place in live broadcasting. Case in point: Netflix has been nominated for more awards than any other platform, beating out even Disney+, Disney Channel, and Disney Junior combined.

Saturday’s gala was hosted by JoJo Siwa, a dancer, singer, and actress who rose to prominence for starring in “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition” and “Dance Moms” before going on to release original music, starring on several Nickelodeon shows and finishing as season runners-up. 30 of “Dancing With The Stars” — along with work on some of the Emmy-nominated shows below.

Meanwhile, the presenters included Malia Baker and Sophie Grace (“The Babysitters Club” on Netflix); Ben Jero (“Henry Danger,” “The Adventures of Kid Danger,” “Big Nate”); PBS Kids characters Donkey Hoodie and Purple Panda; Shaylee Mansfield and Jevon Whetter (“Madagascar: A Little Bit of Wild”); former NBA star John Sally (Disney+’s “Sneakerella”); “Sesame Street” puppeteer Martin B. Robinson (“Mr. Snuffleupagus”, “Telly Monster”, “Slimey the Worm”); and Kyla Pratt (“The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder”).

Sunday’s Children and Family Emmys, also taking place at the Wilshire Ebell, will focus on key categories such as Children’s or Family Watch Series, Preschool Children’s Series, Young Teen Series, Nonfiction Special, Animated Series and Performance categories.
