The plot of Avatar 5 brings the Na’vi to Earth: Neytiri’s eyes will open on Earth

The “Avatar” franchise finally returns this month with its second installment, “The Way of Water,” but that’s not stopping producer Jon Landau from touring the fifth entry, which Disney currently has on its 2028 release calendar. Landau Let it slide into Gizmodo that “Avatar 5” will bring the Na’vi alien race to Earth.

“Well, that’s funny,” Landau said. “I’m not going to talk about it, but now I’ve heard Jim talk about it a little bit more. In the fifth movie there’s a part of the story where we go to Earth. And we go to it to open people’s eyes, open the eyes of Neytiri, to what’s on Earth.”

“The Earth is not only represented by the RDA [the franchise’s evil organization known as the Resources Development Administration],” he said. “Just as determined by the choices you make in life, not all humans are bad. Not all Na’vi are good. This is the case here on earth. And we want to reveal Neytiri for that. ”

Landau’s comments indicate that Neytiri, played by Zoe Saldana through motion capture, will survive the events of at least three “Avatar” sequels. Whether or not her character appears in “Avatar 5” will depend on the box office returns of “Avatar: The Way of Water.” James Cameron filmed “The Way of Water” and “Avatar 3” together. confirmed to Total Film Magazine That “Avatar 3” could be changed into a franchise finale should “The Way of Water” fail at the box office.

“The market might tell us we’re done in three months, or we might be almost done, meaning, ‘Well, let’s finish the story in the third movie, and not go on indefinitely,’ if it’s not profitable,” Cameron said.

If the first batch of sequels are successful, Cameron will go through with his plan to get an “Avatar 4” and an “Avatar 5.” The director recently said collider that his script for Avatar 4 was the first Avatar sequel not to receive a single note from studio executives.

“I can’t tell you the specifics, but all I can say is that when I handed in the script [‘The Way of Water’]Cameron said, “The studio gave me three pages of notes.” And when I turned in the script for 3, they gave me a page of notes, so I was getting better. When I turned in the script for 4, the studio director, executive creative for films, wrote me an email saying, “Holy fuck.” And I said, “Well, where are the notes?” ’ And she said, ‘Those are the notes. Because it’s kind of nuts in a good way, right?’”

“Avatar: The Way of Water” opens in theaters December 16 from Disney.
