Every year, around this time, a select group of people are awarded something special from three-time Academy Award nominee Tom Cruise, their annual birthday cake. Celebrities spoke in silent whispers about the Tom Cruise cake, with talents like Angela Bassett, Jon Hamm, and Kirsten Dunst paying tribute. Apparently, one of the regular recipients of the cake is none other than director Michael Bay, who, despite never making a movie with the Mission: Impossible star, says he’s been getting a Hut cake every Christmas for the past two decades. Well, this year’s cake arrived and Bay’s unboxing video…is about what you’d expect.
As you noticed UPROXX, Bay posted a two-part video to his Instagram of him unleashing the cake, which if you’ve watched one of his movies is as violent and messy as you might imagine. From slashing tape on the box as if he’s trying to hide a secret, to refusing to read the attached tag because it prevents him from taking it away from his cake, Bay’s obsessive approach to opening the cake box is like watching a lost movie he directed he never was. released. For those who might still be stumped on the idea of Tom Cruise’s annual birthday cake, let’s pull back the curtain a little more. The cake hails from Doan’s Bakery Woodland Hills, California, and is actually a White Chocolate Coconut Cake. An official description of it calls the cake “her most iconic creation” and adds, “It starts with a ring of luxurious, moist coconut cake, mixes in chunks of sweet white chocolate, layer on rich cream cheese frosting, and then sprinkles with toasted coconut flakes. The result is a delicious, decadent cake.” Good enough to derail even the strictest Hollywood diets.”
In regards to these cakes, and apparently just sending cakes to people in general, the actor revealed that it has become his regular habit because his many roles in action films prevent him from consuming sugar.
“I love sugar, but I can’t have it when I’m working out when I’m doing all these movies,” Cruz said. The Late Late Show with James Corden Back in 2018. “So, I sent it to everyone. I sent it to staff. I send it and wait for the calls, tell me about it.”
We hope Tom sees these videos posted by Michael Bay and sees this as wrong.
