New Year’s Eve on TV: how to watch and where to broadcast

Viewers can party with celebs like Miley Cyrus and Ryan Seacrest all night December 31 with a variety of live TV shows set to ring in the new year. Networks such as NBC, CBS and ABC are scheduled to broadcast festive television shows in celebration of the holiday.

Here’s a rundown of the must-watch shows that will get the ball rolling, with updates to come throughout the month.

NBC’s New Year’s Eve Party

“Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” debuted on NBC last year to strong viewership. Similar to last year’s event, the Miami-based Prisoner Gala will feature an undisclosed lineup of musical performances and celebrity guest appearances.

Singer-songwriter Dolly Parton will take comedian Pete Davidson’s place as co-host at this year’s event, and Joe DiMaio is set to return to the director’s chair. Lorne Michaels, creator and producer of “Saturday Night Live” is the executive producer of the special alongside Cyrus.

“Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” will air on NBC December 31 from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET and will be available to stream live on Peacock.

CBS’ “New Year’s Eve Live: The Nashville Big Bash”

This year’s “Nashville’s Big Bash” is a five-hour celebration featuring a roster of artists including Flo-Rida, Zac Brown Band, and Luke Bryan.

Hosted by Jimmy Allen, Elle King and Rachel Smith, the event consists of 50 back-to-back performances to keep the music going in the new year. Tonight’s performers are expected to invite special guests on stage to give surprise performances throughout the evening.

Sandra Restrepo will return as director for a second year, and the program is produced by Robert Deaton and Mary Hilliard Harrington in partnership with Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp.

The special will air on CBS from 8-10 PM ET and 10:30 PM-1:30 AM ET. Viewers can also set Paramount +, where the program will be available to stream.

ABC letters “Rockin’ Dick Clark’s New Year’s Eve With Ryan Seacrest”

Five and a half hours of the year’s best music awaits viewers from ABC and Dick Clark Productions’ Dick Clark New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2023, which is being celebrated across the hemisphere.

Ryan Seacrest, who has hosted the event 18 times now, will reprise his role at this year’s Times Square celebration alongside YouTuber Lisa Koshy and singer Jessie James Decker, who will co-host Powerball for the fourth year in a row. Musical artists at the New York-based celebration include Duran Duran, New Edition, J-Hope, and Jax.

Singer-songwriter Ciara leads the festivities from Disneyland Resort, where she will also perform a shortlist followed by performances from Fitz & The Tantrums, Maddie & Tae, Shaggy, Ben Platt, Aly & AJ, Halle Bailey, Tomorrow x Together, Billy Zimmerman and Lauren Spencer-Smith.

Meanwhile, Billy Porter will co-host from New Orleans, and recording artist D-Nice will serve as the house DJ and co-host of the Los Angeles celebration. Musicians such as Wiz Khalifa, Finneas, Armani White, Betty Who, Dove Cameron and Nikki Eure will take to the stage at the Los Angeles concert for sets.

The show will also return to Puerto Rico for a second year, with Puerto Rican actress and producer Roselyn Sanchez as host and singer and rapper Farruco.

Five nonprofits have been selected to be named Culture Catalysts during this year’s show: Black Women’s Wellness Center, Refunds, The Sato Project, and Silence The Shame, Inc. and the Stonewall Foundation.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2023 will air live on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. ET on December 31 and ending at approximately 2 a.m. ET. The program will also be available for free viewing on the ABC website.

FNC’sAmerican New Year 2023″

“Fox & Friends Weekend” co-hosts Will Cain, Rachel Campos-Duffy, and Pete Hegseth co-host this year’s New Year’s Eve network special, live from the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, Tennessee.

The event will feature appearances by personalities from Fox News Media as well as a musical performance by country music singer Brantley Gilbert and a stand-up comedy routine from Fox News radio host Jimmy Faella.

Fox News co-host Emily Compagno will lead the network’s celebration from Times Square, while Griff Jenkins, Fox News broadcast correspondent, will oversee the festivities in Key West, Florida. Compagno will also co-host an hour-long pre-show with Failla and Jenkins called “Countdown to American New Year”.

“All-American New Year 2023” will be broadcast live on Fox News from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. ET. The pre-show special, “Countdown to American New Year,” will kick off the network’s holiday celebration at 9 p.m. ET.

“New Year’s Eve Live” on CNN

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, best known for being the host and executive producer of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live! , as co-hosts of “New Year’s Eve Live” in New York City.

Special guests like five-time Emmy Award winner Jan Smart and former “Saturday Night Live” regular Sherry Autry will join Cooper and Cohen live, along with “sweet but psycho” singer Ava Max for a live performance.

Usher is set to perform a live concert from his Las Vegas residency at Park MGM, and down on the Las Vegas Strip, comedian Kevin Hart will join the show from the Resorts World stage for an interview and roast. Ellie Goulding will also take to the stage to perform a medley of covers and music from her upcoming album, Higher Than Heaven.

CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live” will air live on the network December 31 at 8 p.m. ET. At 12:30 a.m. ET, CNN anchor Don Lemon will celebrate the countdown in the Central Time Zone live from New Orleans. The New Year’s Eve show is available to stream live to paying subscribers on CNN.com, CNN OTT and the mobile apps or CNNgo, and will be offered on demand the day after the premiere.
