Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida caused a stir recently when he pushed to ban TikTok in the US, introducing a bill that would do just that. Rubio’s bill would also ban other apps that operate outside of countries the Senate considers “hostile,” including China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and more.
This bill doesn’t have enough support yet to become law, but talk of banning TikTok has become more prevalent in recent months.
