No. 10: The Amazing Spider-Man #258 – Live Edition | Marvel | 1984 | While he retained his position in the Top Ten, Bombastic Bag Man remains unknown to many fans. After Peter separates from the symbiote that later becomes Venom, Johnny Storm hangs his friend with a paper bag to hide his identity. Thus Bombastic Bag Man (who first appeared in this book) was born! Soon, he’ll be jumping from page to page after being spotted in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Fans have chosen to keep picking up this book in hopes that it will be an unforgettable outing. We tracked it at $345 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw VF FMV for $26.

number 9: Spider Vault #1 | Marvel | 2018 | Another spike in book counts due to the upcoming mega event is SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE. To go with the latest trailer, a poster for the movie has also been released. It houses a literal army of Spidey folks, one of whom was definitely Spider-Byte, a cybercrime fighter who first appeared in this book. Savage Spider-Man also appeared in this book and will likely appear on the poster as well. We tracked it down at $119 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV for $15.

number 8: CATWOMAN #50 – SOZOMAIKA – FOIL (1:50) | DC | 2022 | Sozomaika Catwoman variant covers have been on our list for much of 2022. Well, with the latest release, we see that trend continuing! Fans have absolutely loved their take on Catwoman and are making that sentiment known when they visit the aftermarket to secure a 1:50 scale copy of this hard-to-find replacement. We tracked it at a sale high of $100 for a preprint and NM FMV at $68.

number 7: Omega Men #3 | DC | 1983 | After a two-week hiatus from our list, Lobo is back in the top ten. The movement for Lobo’s debut remained strong as the situation in the capital continued to evolve. for every colliderJason Mamoa’s take on Aquaman will end after the third movie. This obviously frees up Mamoa to play Lobo’s favorite character in future features. It may never happen, but the passion brewing for the character in DC certainly raises some eyebrows among fans. We tracked it to a sell high of $450 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $92.

No. 6: Retention #1 | photo | 2005 | According to Comicbook.com, The Keep, which was developed by Greg Nicotero of Walking Dead fame, has been picked up. An adaptation in its own right, The Keep flew under the radar until the news reached fans. Books were snapped up quickly, with the aftermarket turning into a token ghost town where this horror book is hard to find! We tracked it at a sale high of $30 for a preprint and NM FMV at $14.

no 5: Amazing Spider-Man #365 | Marvel | 1992 | Fans finally got a sneak peek of Spider-Man 2099 in the latest Spider-Verse trailer and loved it! We’ve known it was coming for months after it was announced that Oscar Isaac would be voicing the character, but that hasn’t dampened the community’s excitement. The community was revitalized, and he continued to pick up his first appearance after a break earlier in the year. We tracked it to a sell high of $199 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $32.

No. 4: Spider-Man 2099 #1 | Marvel | 1992 | The installation of the first ongoing series of Spider-Man 2099 will come right next to his first appearance. Fans are so pumped for him to make his big screen debut and keep cutting copies when they can. Fortunately, these books have been dollar fodder for years and they are everywhere. But high quality copies are hard to come by because this distinctive red foil cover is easily damaged. We tracked it to a sell high of $170 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $20.

Number 3: The Amazing Spider-Man #24 | Marvel | 1978 | Like many of the books on our list (eg El Muerto’s first appearance), and this book has also seen a meteoric rise from obscurity to the front page due to a surprise announcement. Recent news from Sony that Donald Glover has been cast in the movie featuring Hypno-Hustler. It is still witnessing some movement, albeit at less than half the level witnessed last week. Many are still looking for this book in the back issues boxes, but that will only last for a short time because all eyes are now on this mysterious (but excellent) villain. We tracked it down at a high sale of $155 for a 9.0nm raw version with an FN FMV of $42.

Number 2: The Joker: The Man Who Stopped Laughing #3 – Lee Bermejo – Cover B | DC | 2022 | Tis the season for the obsessive (yet adorable) holiday-themed Joker covers! Lee Bermejo killed this cover, and the fan response was nothing short of utter. It continues to move copies after three weeks at or near the top of the top ten. With the holidays upon us and her being a holiday cover, it’s fitting to see her continued success. If she can keep this up well into the new year is anyone’s guess, but until then, she’ll keep her spot on our top ten list. We tracked it at a sale high of $200 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $24.

No. 1: Batman/Superman: World’s Top 10 – Dan Mora – Holiday Card – Paul McCartney Cover | DC | 2022 | We mentioned that the holidays tend to cause a spike in holiday-themed books because the holiday spirit infects us all. This book is no different, as Dan Mora brought the iconic members of DC comics together for a holiday party. This book also continues the trend of featuring popular musical artists on their covers, with Paul McCartney bringing out the Christmas tune with Superman. The holiday spirit was strong with this one, which led to many copies being carried in the aftermarket. We tracked it at a sale high of $60 for a preprint and NM FMV at $40.
