According to Christian tradition, you will need to remove the decorations on the twelfth night after Christmas (Epiphany Eve). Usually this falls on the 5th or 6th of January, depending on how you count the 12 days of Christmas. For example, the Church of England counts from Christmas Day, so Twelfth Night always falls on January 5th. Other denominations, including the Catholic Church, begin counting from Boxing Day, making January 6 Twelfth Night (and Epiphany). Either way, it is bad luck to leave your decorations on display after the fifth day, and they are believed to pollute the new year.
