Jonathan Kasdan’s comments come to THR while he was promoting the release of willow Series on Disney+. And part of the reason he’s still interested seems to be related to Emilia Clarke’s performance as Qi’ra.

So what I thought Emilia brought to her so wonderfully is that she’s not evil or duplicitous. She’s a survivor and she maneuvers through all of these different powerful entities to get to the end of the game. But the thing I like to go back to is the relationship between the two, because there is so much fun and complexity to be found in the relationship between Han and Qi’ra.
The rift between Han Solo and Qi’ra should have grown even more in the sequel, especially after she killed Dryden Vos and took his place. Having Maul as boss will no doubt create some high-stakes situations. Unfortunately, there are currently no plans for the studio to continue this story.
