William H. Macy signs with the APA

William H. Macy signed with the Performing Arts Agency.

The veteran star of classics like “Fargo” and the long-running TV franchise “Shameless” reunites with agent Andrew Rogers, who left ICM Partners in July to become APA’s Global Head of Talent. John Burnham Macy, who left ICM for Atlas Artists in April, will also manage.

Macy has received 12 Emmy Award nominations and two wins in his varied career, as well as 11 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and four Awards. His performance in Joel and Ethan Cohen’s Fargo earned him an Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actor in 1998.

A one-time vet student who would go on to study under David Mamet, Massey was a regular on Paul Thomas Anderson (“Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia”) and starred in such indie films as The Cooler. His stellar 2002 film, Door to Door also garnered him six Emmy Awards out of 12 nominations.

In addition to directing several episodes of contemporary series, he has also directed independent films such as “Crystal” about a lonely young man in love with an ex-exotic dancer, starring Rosario Dawson, T.I., Felicity Huffman and Kathy Bates.

Macy is one of several high-profile clients backing with boutique agency players following CAA’s acquisition of ICM Partners and the fallout from the WGA’s packaging fee win. Rogers, specifically, recruited a group of former clients for his new APA division, a list that includes: Regina Hall, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ken Jeong, Michael Rainey Jr., Mark Maron, Michel Cera, Russell Hornsby, and more.

Macy will next appear in the rom-com “Maybe I Do” with Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, and Diane Keaton, followed by the franchise installment “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” and Peter Farrelly’s latest “Ricky Stanicky.”
