Cocaine Bear has a tie game (for some reasons)

Your chance to wreak havoc like Pablo Escober.

The upcoming horror comedy Cocaine Bear has received a free hook-up game available for players now. Cocaine Bear: The Rise of Pablo Escobear is a retro-style arcade game with strong similarities to Pac-Man, in which players control the titular Pablo Escobear as he goes on a drug-fueled rampage.

Making his way through the colorful stages, the player must take as much cocaine as possible while chewing the occasional human for bonus points. The game also features a version of the super counter, in which, after eating a certain amount of Tony Montana’s favorite snack, EscobĂ©r moves faster and eats people non-stop, sometimes even taking down trucks that cross the stage. The action is bloody, fast and ultimately silly.

The free hook-up game is a tried and true method of viral marketing, capitalizing on retro style with the setting of the movie, which is set in the 1980s. The tweet announcing the game already has dozens of responses from fans sharing their high scores as well as those praising the marketing strategy. High score leaderboards are also available, so players can challenge each other to see who is the best mass-killing grizzly bear.

Cocaine Bear The movie is loosely based on a true story that happened in Georgia in 1985, when cocaine that was accidentally dropped from an airplane was swallowed by a black bear. Where the movie differs from reality is what exactly happened to Escobear. In reality, the bear overdosed and died, while in the movie, the bear becomes a force of nature, rampaging though a small town and eating every human he can get on his paws.

Writer Jamie Warden was drawn to the concept after reading about the original state. “I knew I wasn’t just going to die of a drug overdose,” he explained in the film’s official production notes. “It would be kind of a downfall. So, I thought it could kill a lot of people instead. Building that script was such a crazy ride. The moment I came across the cocaine bear story, I knew I had to write How Couldn’t I Dream? In different ways a bear on cocaine to kill people in the woods is more fun in script writing.”

Cocaine Bear hits theaters February 24, and the game is available now.
