Kingwood, Texas (KTRK) – A Kingwood wastewater plant has been accused of dumping sewage into a creek that leads to a major source of drinking water in Houston, according to court documents.
On February 17, the Houston Police Department raided the plant on Kingwood Drive after neighbors complained of an unpleasant odor that had blanketed the area for weeks.

A newly released court document accuses the plant’s operator of tampering with samples to make it look like sewage was properly treated before it was released into Penn Branch.
This waterway goes directly into Lake Houston – one of the city’s main drinking water sources.
It is important to note that it is processed at different plants before the water comes through Houstonians’ taps.
Houston Public Works has ensured that the water is safe in Kingwood and everywhere else.

“At no time was untreated wastewater released from the plant,” said a spokesperson for Inframark, the company that operates the plant in Kingwood.
Questions remain: What does the evidence reveal? And why accuse the plant of excreting sewage?
It is based on what the investigators saw when they were inside the factory. There were also allegations that the treatment regimens weren’t working properly. It was claimed that the wastewater was severely discolored and full of “solids and foam”.
A spokesperson for Houston Public Works spoke to Houston Chronicle’s ABC13 partners and said raw sewage did not bypass the facility and reach the water completely intact.
But management has described the plant’s operations as “substandard”.
Investigations are still ongoing.
