Jonathan Majors shares his original reaction to being cast as Kang in the MCU

Last month, Kang the Conqueror began making his full appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The blockbuster was the biggest showcase yet for Jonathan Majors in the role, before he was expected to reprise his role in the Multiverse Saga. In a recent interview with GamesRadarMajors revealed his original reaction to being offered the massive role, and how excited he was to eventually “foster” his creativity within the franchise.

“At first, I didn’t believe it,” Majors says. “I come from theater, which, in some cultures, might seem like anathema to MCU theater, so it was completely strange to be approaching it. But I quickly discovered that it was a very deliberate choice on their part. Any fear I had about being able to actually do the work I wanted really hard to do and create the art that I so badly want to create… I was really going to foster within the MCU, and within this design firm.”

What are Marvel’s plans for Kang?

the next QuantumaniaKang’s tenure in the MCU is expected to culminate even further, with Marvel Studios considering him the “big bad” of the next few years of the Multiverse saga. Majors is expected to reprise his role in both The Avengers: Kang Dynasty And Avengers: Secret Wars.

“It comes down to the cast and with Jonathan Majors, who I think took over the Hall H theater, you know, in the three minutes he was there,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said. ComicBook.com earlier this year. “It’s amazing, and I told him no one is on anyone’s shoulders, I’d rather put the multiverse saga on his shoulders. It’s really impressive what Jonathan Majors and all the different incarnations, variants, if you will, of Kang can do that we’ll see him do.” It’s really cool.”

“What I love is that he’s so different from Thanos. He’s so different. Isn’t it just a bigger purple guy with a helmet? That’s not Kang. Kang is a completely different kind of villain and the fact that many, many different personalities are what sets him apart and is most interesting “.
