What are they and how to use them

Macs running macOS Big Sur and later include some gadgets. Let’s find out how they are used and what they are actually capable of.

If you recently purchased a new mac, like the MacBook Pro (2023), you may have noticed the built-in macOS widgets. Similar to those on New iPhonesThese tools display real-time information from the system and third-party applications. And just like the ones on iOS, it’s available in small, medium, and large size options. If you are wondering where to find and modify them, all you have to do is follow the steps below.

  1. Tap on the date or time in the upper right corner.
  2. This will reveal the Notification Center, where you will find the macOS Tool Center.
  3. Click on Edit widgets button at the very bottom.

  13. Now, when you click on the date or time in the menu bar, the notification center will appear, giving you a look at your widgets.
  14. Clicking on a widget will launch its dedicated application.

Unfortunately, as of macOS VenturaYou still can’t add widgets to the desktop like in iOS and iPadOS. So whenever you need to look at these pieces of data, you should check the notification center. And like the ones on iPhones and iPads, they only update once every few minutes, and you can’t interact with them after launching the app in question. We just hope Apple makes it more useful and accessible in the future macOS 14.
